I had a revelation today.

We are charged up, energized, excited, passionate, full of vision and innovative ideas and fired up ... why?

Our staff is on an all time high—happy, having fun, working hard, working after hours, creative, in the game, rowing together and an absolute pleasure to oversee ... why?

We have momentum; critical mass is mounting; growth is happening; word of mouth is spreading ... the church is growing ... people are growing ... people are inviting their friends ... why?

Here's why?

We have meat.

Jesus said it the best. When his disciples asked Him to eat after a long day. Jesus said, I have meat to eat that ye know not of ... My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." (John 4:32, 34)

Jesus was energized, nourished, strengthened by doing God's will. Doing the will of God is meat ... it gives us innovative energy, strength, power, motivation, expectation ... the thrill!

Specifically ... doing God's will in what? Jesus clarified that too ... in the very next verse.

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. (John 4:35)

God's will is reaching the harvest! Reaching the lost. Reaping the harvest. This is God's will, which becomes meat for us! This meat energizes us ... like nothing else can.

This is what is happening in our lives, in our staff and in our church. We are focused on reaching the lost first ... maturing believers second ... in that order. Our whole staff is focused on doing their part to help us hold weekend services that are culturally relevant and connecting with unchurched, lost, irreligious people while at the same time feeding believers enough "meat" from the Word. It's working and ... and it's making a difference. The lost folk in the culture are coming and the believers are emailing us to let us know they are being fed well by the Word.

There is nothing that gives you "meat" like focusing on the harvest. We've tried other things ... maybe you have, too. You can go to every conference for believers ... every "goose bump" convention being offered ... you can feed yourself spiritually until you are fat and sassy ... and you'll still feel something is lacking. We are all for believers meetings, Holy Ghost meetings, prosperity, healing, worship nights, load me up conferences ... we love them ... they are great ... BUT ...

BUT ... eating all of that won't do it. Believer, eat—they say! Our response, "We have meat that you know not of ... our meat is to do the will of Him that sent us ... we are lifting up our eyes all over southwest Michigan and we see the harvest of lost people that are ripe for harvest. We are focused on going after them ... AND ...

The result? We are nourished, strengthened, energized ... isn't it amazing? So simple ... so amazing.

How about you? Feeling lethargic? Feeling like a spiritually overweight Christian? Feeling empty? Purposeless? Self-absorbed? Eaten at one too many all you can eat buffets and ready to barf? It's time to aggressively ... go after the harvest. Your meat is to do the will of Him who sent you!

There is meat for you ...
