7 Reasons I Invite You To Read My Blog

7 Reasons I Invite You To Read My BlogSo, you’re busy. I understand. Who’s got time to read a blog? Nobody I know … unless we read something that connects with the life we’re living. I am hoping this blog does that for you.

Here’s why … this blog is written with you in mind. And for the 32-year-old girl next door with two preschoolers. And for the 51-year-old gal in the cubicle next to you that just went through a divorce. And for the 19-year-old young woman who’s got her whole life in front of her—college, career, and marriage choices. And for the 66-year-old mom who’s thinking about retiring to Sarasota.

And for your 44-year-old sister who just sent her oldest son to college and isnow taking online classes to get her masters degree. And or the struggling 25-year-old single mom in a one-bedroom apartment who’s working two jobs to make a way for her kids. And for your 38-year-old best friend who shuffles four kids in her black Suburban and wonders if this is all there is. It's written for any woman you've observed who has determined to connect with God, enjoy her life, her marriage, her kids, influence her world, and maximize her potential.

For the past 20 plus years, I've lived with, fought with, laughed with, prayed with, talked with, taught or counseled thousands of women. I've discovered that deep down, we're much alike. We all need a boost. A laugh. Someone to tell us we’re mostly normal or give us a motivational kick in the pants. This will be our basic blog mandate.

So, let me give you "Seven Reasons I Invite You To Read My Blog."
  1. I’m A Girl. I am a 40-something girl, sister, mother, wife, Christian woman … and surely that has to count for something. For most of my life I said, "Someday, when I grow up, I’m gonna … " and then when I turned 40 I heard myself say, "You know, when I was younger … " Lightbulb! It dawned on me. I have grown up. I know stuff. This counts.

I get the girl thing. Being intuitive and just knowing things. Feeling intimidated and believing God for confidence. The delicate balance between being sensitive and wanting to kick butt and take names. I understand the need we girls have for communication and talking—cell phones, IM, email, Facebook, MySpace and personal café time for more talking. I don’t like surface, competitive, moody, "it’s all about me" peeps. I know the magnitude of hair issues—cut, color, perm, straighten, highlight, tweeze, laser, wax … all of it! I am a girl, but I don’t roar. Let me know what chick stuff you want to talk about.

  2. I Realize Hormones Rule. Cry, laugh, sweat, eat a choco-taco at midnight … I am so with you. Is it PMS or periomenopause? Who cares, it’s a bummer. Weeping may endure for the night … so, if you want to cry for no reason, go for it … joy will come in the morning after your fat-free, triple venti cappucinno.

  3. I Didn’t Kill My Three Sisters. My parents divorced when I was ten and Mom blazed a trail for my three sisters and me. I am the oldest. Do the math: five women, one bathroom, one phone and a boy dog, Snoopy. We had issues. We all lived. Today, we’re best friends. The estrogen is still in the building.

  4. The Mars/Venus Thing. I’ve been married to Jeff for over 20 years and like he says, "It’s been the best 12 years of our life." He’s funny. I love him. Mars has issues, Venus rocks.

  5. My People. We have four children … 13, 15, 17, 19. Thank you for your prayers.

  6. Coolness. I thought I was cool until I saw my body in a pair of low-rider jeans. Scary.

  7. 10,000 People Don’t Like Us. My husband and I pioneered Valley Family Church in 1991; over the past 16 years it’s grown from the original 9 people to over 2,500 people that call our church their home. Don’t be impressed—that means 10,000 people don’t like us. Experts say for every one person who attends our church, 4 people visited and never came back. Comforting isn’t it? Oh well, God likes us.

With those credentials, I know you’ll be riveted. So, hang in there with me as we blog on!

Beth

I am so excited after reading this. Beth is a down to earth, "gosh, she sounds just like my friend _____" kind of gal.

This whole blog thing is still new for me. Another reminder (in addition to low rider jeans, we won't go there) that I also am not cool! But, you crack me up so I will be a faithful reader and replier.

I don't normally comment on blogs. Don't get me wrong I LOVE to read them, I just don't comment...no real reason for it...I just generally don't have a lot to say...except maybe "I liked it", or "I can relate to that", or possibly even "that was incredibly heartfelt or touching"...pretty bland if you ask me... However I am going to respond to this one because I so enjoy reading your blogs, your bathroom notes, your bite-sized books...just all of it...because I can relate to them...

* Having reached 60-something & feeling like I own the world (but knowing it's really my Father's world - but He's a great sharer), I can identify with most of what you say. And I can add a few things! * I like that being real is the best part of life! I think my grandmother invented "being free to be" and I'm grateful to her for letting me be her "grasshopper". * Having raised 3 of my 5 children (2 are 'steps-') as a single mom, I let them live. AND they have children now & I
