Think about this scripture: Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you...” (Luke 1:34-35, NKJV) Have you ever wondered, “How can this be?" I don’t know a man. I don’t have any connections. I don’t have anyone who can help me. I don’t know people who can make this happen. I don’t have any money. I don’t know what I am doing.
God puts a dream in your heart. The Lord gives you a promise. God speaks to you in a supernatural way. Yet...you wonder – “How can this be?” It looks impossible. It doesn’t make sense. It’s beyond your ability. You’re too shy. You can’t speak. You don’t have a degree. You weren’t raised in this. No one knows you. You’re under-qualified or over-qualified. You’re invisible. You don't have the funds.
These are the perfect conditions! God is looking for people just like you. When you feel completely inadequate - God is your adequacy. You may not know a man – a sugar-daddy, a publicist, a lawyer, an expert, a banker, a specialist or any other human who can help you – but the Lord does! You DO have friends in high places!
The Lord tells us the same thing He told Mary, “And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35, NKJV) What was Mary’s response? Simple faith. “Then Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’” (Luke 1:38, NKJV)
When we trust the Lord and respond to His Word in faith – we position ourselves for the work of Holy Spirit! When the Holy Spirit comes upon us – His power goes to work! He is the orchestrator of divine things. Divine power. Supernatural things. Miracles. God-connections. Open doors. Favor. Insight. Secrets. Opportunities. He has a way of making sure we are in the right place at the right time. We may not know a man – but we do know THE MAN!
What has the Lord said to you? If you’re asking, “How can this be?” Know this - without the Lord – it can’t be; but with God nothing will be impossible!
Today, be encouraged as you trust in the Lord and meditate on these verses:
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)
Zechariah 4:6 - 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty. (NIV)
Philippians 3:3 - ...who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh... (NKJV)
Mark 10:27 - But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." (NKJV)
Luke 18:27 – “But He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." (NKJV)
