My Work Here Is Not Done
January 28, 2008
My Work Here Is Not DoneSo … I was in church and getting into the worship when I looked over at my son, Luke. He had his eyes closed one hand raised to the Lord. He was about 8 years old.

I thought, "Look at the little guy … learning how to praise the Lord from his heart." A few seconds later, I felt him pulling on my shirt. I thought, "Now he wants to tell me what the Lord is saying to him; he wants to tell me that he really knows God loves him … he definitely wants to tell me something deep and profound."

I bent low. "Yes, Luke … what's up?"

He didn't bat an eye. "Can we get a foosball table?" he asked.

It was then I knew my work here was not yet done.

Until next time,

Beth

Is this anything like when your kid comes home from Sunday School and says, "Hey Mom! I'm gonna be one of the 3 wise guys!"???

And God's work isn't done with us, either. My teenage son was getting into the habit of naps after school and early evening and I was trying to explain to him that it can throw off his sleeping pattern. He had quite a laugh, though, when I said to him, "It's not good to go to sleep and wake up again."
