OK girls, I'm stirred up with the start of a new year—this is your year! It's time for you to step up to the plate. It's time to see and be the person you've been created to be. I meet too many women with a low self-worth, women who don’t feel good about themselves. They live so far below their potential, it's pitiful. They put up with such abuse and disrespect, it's heartbreaking. They are sad, mad, and sometimes bad. It's a shame. It's a waste of a valuable lifetime. The experts say that nearly 90% of the population has a low self-image. In various ways, we've all been there. So, consider this your New Year Booster Shot pep talk!
You are an expensive chick … and it's time you start acting like it. You are more valuable than you realize. You need to see yourself the way your Creator does. Get this? God's view of you is found in Proverbs 31: "A worthy woman who can find? For her price is far above rubies." Notice the price?
So, woman … how much are you worth? What price have you put on yourself? Your value is far above rubies. Have you priced a ruby lately? I have. According to a local jeweler, you could spend as much as $25,000 for a one carat ruby! Well, your value is far above rubies … that is rubies—plural. You are not equated with some sliver of a cubic zurk—no your value is far above rubies.
The value of something is determined by the price someone will pay for it. A few years ago, we were dickering with the street vendors in Mexico City and I had to decide if the marble chess set I was considering was worth $15.00. Hello? What was I thinking? I bought it! What's your price? Your value has been determined by the price Someone was willing to pay for you. Obviously, God thinks your worth more than rubies as He’s paid quite a price for you. Let's not insult God by thinking less of ourselves than He does!
What's the most expensive thing you own? How do you treat it? Do you let every Tom, Dick, and Harry insult it, criticize it, and beat it up? How about giving yourself the same respect you give your expensive trinkets? Don't settle for anything less. If you were up for auction on eBay, what price would you demand? Don't cater to the low bidder. It's necessary for the success of your life to have a healthy self-worth. You don't have to be a narcissist. But the reality is that you can't truly value and love others until you love and value yourself. Are you hearing this?
You high school, college, and single girls need to get this–even some of you married gals need this … so listen up. Think rubies! Set a high price on yourself. Don’t give yourself away for free. Expect those boys to pay … pay you with respect, pay you with being a gentleman; pay you with self-control and courtesy. Don't cheapen yourself by giving your heart or body to some sweet talking young man for nothing more than a glass of wine. Respect, value and save yourself for the man that will recognize your worth and be willing to esteem your value.
You are God's jewel and highly valued … don't you forget it!
